The Greater San Fernando Valley Chamber is the largest Chamber in the San Fernando Valley and the 20th largest Chamber in Los Angeles County. It was established in 1911 as the Van Nuys Chamber and in 1989 merged with the Panorama City / Sepulveda Chamber to form what is known today as the Greater San Fernando Valley Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber has strong community roots and has started such programs as the Youth Council (now known as New Directions for Youth), the Van Nuys Auto Row Business Improvement District, and Valley Economic Development Center, as well as the annual community Clean-up Day and the Business Watch Program. The Chambers vision is to promote economic growth and community vitality and with that in mind has taken on such projects as a landscaped median project along the Van Nuys Boulevard Business Corridor. This project has been a partnership with residents and the City of Los Angeles. Greater San Fernando Valley plays an active roll in public policy and played a key roll in the recent City of Los Angeles Business Tax Reform. The Chamber was also successful in working with state legislators on workers compensation reform and successfully lobbied for Greater San Fernando Valley recommendations to be added to the workers compensation clean-up bills this past year. The Chambers achievements can be attributed to successful coalition building among business organizations throughout the State. Our mission is to build community relationships; create positive perception; provide education for business; revitalize the community; promote business development; and advocate for business to the government.
