Community Beautification |
Completed landscaped median at Van Nuys and Burbank Boulevards |
||
In 1997, the City of Los Angeles launched a Neighborhood Block Grant program to revitalize communities within the City. Van Nuys received $3,000,000 during the first phase of the program over a three-year period. The Chamber has played an active roll in the Neighborhood Block Grant program since its inception, working with the City on façade projects along the business corridor and most recently has taken on the administrative role to build landscaped medians along a blighted stretch of Van Nuys Boulevard. The first median will be completed by January 2005 and several more will follow during subsequent periods of the Neighborhood Block Grant. Prior to the inception of the Neighborhood Block Grant program, the Chamber worked with the Van Nuys Boulevard Auto Row Business Improvement District to construct landscaped medians at the intersections of Burbank and Van Nuys Boulevards and at Oxnard Street and Van Nuys Boulevard. The new median will be constructed using the same design to ensure continuity in landscapre along the business corridor. |
